Rob Martin
With 36 years in aviation, Rob Martin brings extensive experience spanning military, corporate, and charter aviation. He began his career as the youngest Naval Aviator to earn the prestigious Wings of Gold, serving 11 years in the U.S. Navy as a Carrier Transport Plane Commander with over 350 arrested landings on 11 aircraft carriers. His military tenure included roles as Instructor Pilot, Post-Maintenance Test Pilot, and Crew Resource Management (CRM) Instructor, as well as a deployment to Japan aboard the USS Kitty Hawk.
Following his military service, Rob transitioned into corporate aviation, spending three years flying Gulfstream and Learjet aircraft for JM Family Enterprises before taking on leadership roles in the private sector. Since 2006, he has been the Director of Aviation for a prominent family office, managing a Gulfstream G550 and overseeing international operations. Rob was previously an FAA-designated Check Airman on the G550 and holds type ratings in the Gulfstream V, GIV, Lear 45, Lear 60, and the Learjet series.
In 2013, Rob founded Freespeed Aviation, a premier charter brokerage and aviation consulting firm. Leveraging his deep industry knowledge, he provides trusted flight solutions to clients, including corporate flight departments and high-net-worth individuals who require safe, reliable, and competitively priced supplemental lift. Freespeed Aviation is proud to be a Wyvern-certified and ARGUS-registered broker, a member of the Air Charter Safety Foundation, and a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business.
Rob is also an NBAA Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) since 2020, and his expertise has been recognized on the Gulfstream Customer Advisory Board, where he contributed to the development of the G650, G500, and G600 programs. He remains an active member of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), Southern California Aviation Association (SCAA), The Tailhook Association, and the Association of Naval Aviation.
A graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Rob originally attended the University of Georgia before entering the U.S. Navy’s Aviation Officer Candidate School at age 19. He lives in Southern California with his wife, Kasey, and their daughter, Siena.

Freespeed Aviation is NOT a registered 14 CFR Part 135 Direct Air Carrier, nor does it provide air carrier services. We select only from direct air carriers and direct foreign air carriers that hold the requisite form of economic authority from the Department of Transportation and appropriate safety authority from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and, if applicable, a foreign safety authority. Freespeed Aviation ensures that all charter operators offered to clients are authorized by the FAA to conduct operations under the applicable regulations (14 CFR Part 135). Charter Operators are solely responsible for the air transportation by Freespeed for its clients. Freespeed does not own or operate the aircraft on which our clients fly. Freespeed Aviation complies with all Charter Broker rules contained in 14 CFR Part 295.
